This left process is outside the lesser sac in relation with afold—the left lateral or lieno-mesocolic—connecting it to the mesocolon ofthe left or distal colon. The distal colon is never fixed dorsally, and theaverage maximum width of the mesocolon equals 5 cm. The pancreas isfound diffusing itself on the left aspect of the mesocolon in relation with theleft lateral fold. The fold with the left splenic process and pancreas canbe lifted free from the ventrum of the left kidney and the dorsal wall. CESOPHAGUS S TOM A CH iNCE of OUC-r ,, y (aoor). Whilst the right process and body of the spleen are continuous, the leftprocess is arched and forms practically a right angle witli the body. Adeep notch is present at the cephalic margin between the two, and the actualwidth of attachment may be less than 2 cm. One or two small notchesmay be noted at the caudal border near the termination of the lesserprocess, and a notch directed towards the body between the right and leftprocesses. It is interesting to note that in an Agama (Reptilia) measuring30 cm. snout to vent and abdominal width of 7 cm. the spleen was 15 and 4 cm. wide, while the snout to vent measurement of the Platypusis 87 cm. and width 18 cm.
