Jessamines are favor- ites everywhere on account of their combined beauty and fragrance. They are among the best of perfumery plants, many hundreds of acres being devoted to their culture in Italy and Southern France. For the so-called 'Cape Jessamine,' see Gardenia. J. gracillimum (Jasmimim gracillimtini) is one of the most distinct in its graceful habit and in the abundance of its large, sweet-scented flow- ers, which are also more copiously produced.
