But that was long ago and thisname has been outgrown, and if a descrip-tive title were now needed it could becalled the City of Parks and conformation of the city where thestreets and avenues intersect lends itselfto ornamentation by making open spaces, triangular or round, and many of theselittle parks are ornamented by statues inmarble or bronze of our nations eminentmen. These reservations, 312 in number,vary in size. The grounds are carefullylaid out with flowers and foliage plants andsome of the larger are provided with seatsfor the use of visitors and in several of theprincipal ones Gove
