The leaves are beautifully marked and blistered (like the Savoy cabbages), and very crisp, ten- der and of excellent flavor. GRAND RAPIDS.—A forcing variety of su- perior quality and beautiful appearance, strong grower, free from rot, and keeps crisp and ten- der without wilting when exposed for sale long- er than any other forcing lettuce. The heads are of good size, com- pact, very hard and solid. In California they eat the heart only with a dressing of olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.
