Amsterdam, Netherlands. August 1961 – A view of a Douglas DC-8-53 jet airliner of KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) parked on the apron of Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. The photograph, taken through a widow, from within a terminal building, shows the aircraft being prepared for flight. This aircraft was delivered to KLM in May 1961, only three months before this photograph, and it is shown in its original livery. It remained in service with the airline until 1976. Visible in the distance is a KLM Convair CV-340 airliner.
