Under the drapery- is a small shelf with bric-a-brac of bright valance of the seat is caught up at regular intervals with metal ornaments. The Japanese umbrella conceit is peculiarly simple and effective; it has small festoons of figuredsilk or cotton attached by thin wire to the ribs from which are hung little bells or large glass beads.
