THE MORE the entry lists for the Pleasanton andBreeders meetings are studied the harder it is tomake a forecast of the probable winners of thedifferent events. Never in the history of Californiaracing has a program been published which containedso many hard races to pick as the one printed lastweek for the Breeders meeting in August. It mustbe remembered that the entire program of this meet-is made up. The only races in which the entries havenot been printed is the four colt stakes upon -whichstarting payments are due until ten day9 before themeeting. The slow classes are, of course, always un-certain to forcast, as the green horEes that areentered are unknown quantities and a crackerjack2:10 performer may develop from among them by thetime the race is called. But the fast record classesseem to be as hard to pick this year as any. Tauethe 2:13 trot with eight entrieB for instance. Thehorses named are Mack Mack 2:13, Tom Smith 2:13^,Forest W. 2:14}, Liege 2:12
