Conservation of Iron Age ear-rings. Close-up of ear-rings being conserved by an archaeologist in a laboratory. These artefacts were produced by the Iron Age Villanovan culture that existed in central and northern Italy from 1100 BC to 700 BC. Metals used by the Villanovan culture included both iron and bronze. This item, excavated in Verucchio, is being preserved as part of work by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Bologna, Italy.
