The compulsory performance of certain militaryduties on Sunday, the lack of the refining influences of association withthe gentle sex, and that feeling of careless independence which ischaracteristic of the cadet, tend to make one thoughtless and carelessas to language and morals and unlikely to be impressed by his spiritualneeds. So the V. M. L cadet sometimes appears to be irreverent andirreligious to those who do not know him.
