A family of nomadic Golok people migrating to their traditional summer pastures in eastern Tibet. Occupied by Chinese forces during China's communist revolution, the nomadic communities have faced major changes in the last 50 years- more recently encouraged to leave the grasslands, sell their animals and move into ready built housing commission estates on the edges of shanty towns. The government has other plans for the vast grasslands that encompass the eastern Tibetan plateau, including mass scale agriculture and gas exploration. For this family of nomads, it is late in the season to be migrating and they will encounter problems as a result. The nomads are now told when and where they can migrate to, resulting in overgrazing, loss of productivity and having to move in the middle of calving season.
