Human figurine Chancay Imperial period 1300 AD - 1352 AD


Ceramic representation of human beings. This consist of a figurine of more or less realistic style, very creatively crafted and rendered with a suggestion of primitivism. It is that particular "unfinished"-sculptural quality and ability that makes this example so attractive. The ceramist models each piece availing himself of rudimentary decorative elements. One's attention in mainly drawn by the markedly shortened and very weak extremities, the lightly sketched facial features and sometimes unfinished decorative motif
