Roman Syrian funerary mosaic, 200 - 400 AD, North Syria. Louvre Museum AO 28293 . Mosaic depicting a childs head with an inmscription in Aramean. The mosaic depicts with great subtlety a young man wearinng a tunic and a soft red hat, typical of Asia Minor. The inscription reads : Baku, son of YK (?) treasurer. (Fragment belonging to the same mosaic as AO 28294). Marble and limestone tesserae. Height: 41 cm; Width: cm. Denon Room 181.
