Supermarket wind turbine. This small-scale 10-metre-tall vertical axis wind turbine is designed for use in urban environments. It is more efficient in turbulent urban wind flows than larger tri-bladed wind turbines. This wind turbine is in a car park at a Tesco supermarket in York, UK. Tesco have built wind turbines to supply energy to several of their supermarkets, with the intent of reducing the overall carbon footprint of Tesco stores. Several such wind turbines were erected in 2009.
