Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of two Acanthamoeba polyphaga protozoa, as they were interacting through their projecting pseudopodia extending from the surface of these organisms. These pseudopodia enable the amoebae to move about, and grasp objects in their environment. Acanthamoeba is a microscopic, free-living ameba that is relatively common in the environment.
