Thill was one of the members of the Colorado National Guard command team that toured the area and visited soldiers and airmen on state active duty assisting in the flood fight. The Colorado Guard, Wyoming National Guard and the Army's 4th Combat Aviation Brigade from Fort Carson, Colo., supported civil authorities for flood evacuations and operations. As of 11 Sept. 18, a total of 754 troops, 19 helicopters, 20 ground search-and-rescue teams, and 67 traffic-control points are operational. Their cumulative number of military aerial evacuations is currently 2,394; 75 of them by hoist. Additionally, 816 animals have been evacuated by air. Additionally, nearly tons of cargo, including critical food, water and clothing; as well as transportation and engineering supplies; have been transported via military helicopters since flood operations began. Colorado National Guardsmen have evacuated a cumulative 707 people by ground, along with estimated hundreds of animals. Currently, 23 teams with 83 vehicles are operating in Boulder, Larimer County, Weld County and Denver.
