A shopper holds a dispenser of Cottonelle brand flushable wipes in a supermarket in New York on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Despite the fact that they are advertised as safe for sewers and septic systems the flushable wipes allegedly do not break down and clog the wastewater treatment plants. The NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection reported it spends $18 million a year, 110,000 cubic yards a month, collecting and discarding the products from the fourteen wastewater testament plants.
