Proboscis fully developed; palpi short, porreet, fringed with long hair below ; frons smooth with curved corneous plate below it; eyes small, elliptical; antenn£e of male ciliated ; head and thorax roughly clothed with hair and scales, the pro- and metathorax with spi-eading crests; tibise fringed with long hair ; abdomen with dorsal crests on basal segments. Fore wing with veins S and 5 from near angle of cell; 6 from upper angle; 9 from 10 anastomosing with 8 to form the areole ; 11 from cell. Hind wing with veins 3, 4 from angle of cell; 5 obsolescent from middle of discooellulars ; 6, 7 from upper angle ; 8 anastomosing with the cell near base only. 2223. Protophana cervina. Head and thorax ochreous mixed Avith bright rufous, the extremity of patagia and metathoracic crest with a few black scales; antennae tinged with fuscous; tarsi fuscous ringed with ochreous; abdomen greyish suffused with red-brown.
