. Florists' review [microform]. Floriculture. MILWAUKEE, WIS. The Market. , There has been little change in mar- ket conditions here during the last Week. Stock in general is inferior in quality, and this makes it hard at times to fill shipping orders satisfac- torily. While some carnations are still being seen on the market, they are poor, and despite the fact that they are cleaning up, the prices realized are not 80 high as they should be. Asters are, arriving in larger quantities and dre selling well. The quality might be better than it is, and this fact retards the sale of this stock to some extent. Roses are plentiful and the stock is extra fine. While short-stemmed stock predominates, some exceptionally fine long-stemmed stock is being cut. It is really surprising the hold Mrs. Chas. Russell roses have taken on the flower- buying public. The daily call for this stock is steadily increasing and a bright future is predicted for this rose. Some fine lilies and valley are on the market at this time, but the sale is light. With the war going on in Eu- rope, it is difficult to say what we will have in bulb stock and anything that is imported, next year. Various Notes. Mr. and Mrs. F. H. llolton, who, ac- companied by their daughter, Ruth, are sojourning in the east, left Montreal, Canada, Friday, August 7. They will spend about a week in Vermont, where Mr. Holton has a number of relatives and where he spent his boyhood days. From Vermont they will go to Boston to attend the c,onvention of the S. A. F. Mrs, Seaman, with Currie Bros. Co., left Saturday, August S, to spend a week in Chicago. Later she will visit various lakes in Wisconsin, where she can get a well earned rest. Wm. Currie entertained the Quoiters' Club at his place at Amery lake, Sat- urday, August 8. This lake is one of Wisconsin's beauty spots. Miss Flora Schneider, with the Hol- ton & Hunkel Co., left for a two weeks' vacation August 8. Wm. Currie and his son, Roy, are leaving to attend the S. A.
