EDMOND BASYE bought land of Lord Fairfax in PrinceWilliam Co., Virginia, in 1754. A little later he settled in Fau-quier Co., as he and John Basye were enrolled in 1761 as Ser-geants in a company of militia raised in Fauquier County byColonel Wm. Edmonds to fight Indians. It is evident that hecame from Northumberland County. He must have been bornbetween 1720 and 1730 and married about 1750. He died inCulpepper County in 1810. His wife was Winnifred. Children :*2.
