This Sunday, January 8, a commemorative march was held in Madrid, Spain in memory of the victims of a passenger plane that the Iranian army shot down two years ago. Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 was a commercial flight shot down by Iranian anti-aircraft defense on January 8, 2020 that departed from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran (Iran) bound for Boryspil International Airport in kyiv (Ukraine) where it all 176 people on board died,12 making it the deadliest aviation disaster in Iran since the crash of an Ilyushin Il-76 in 2003 and surpassing Air India Express Flight 812 as the deadliest Boeing 737-related disaster Next Generation and was the second deadliest involving the Boeing 737 series after Lion Air Flight 610. The shootdown was the first catastrophe for Ukraine International Airlines. It is the worst plane downing since Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in 2014. An international advocacy group for victims has called on the Iranian government to clarify the circumstances that led to the downing of the plane. Initially, Iran denied shooting down the plane. However, faced with the mounting evidence, Tehran had to admit that the craft was accidentally shot down after being mistaken for a missile. The Iranian government promised to pay $150,000 to the families of each victim. But relatives say they only care about holding Iran accountable for the tragedy. Under international law, France and the United States have the right to review copies of that report 60 days in advance because they are the countries where the plane's engines and fuselage were built, respectively.
