It consists of three portions: thecervix, body and fundus. As viewed externally, the uterus, onits anterior surface, is nearly flat, itsposterior surface convex; a little belowthe centre is a slight constriction calledthe isthmus. The cervix is that portion of theuterus below the isthmus, and whichprojects in part into the vagina.
