Vietnam: Hang Co Railway Station, Hanoi. Photo by Pierre Dieulefils (1862-1937), c. 1912. The Vietnamese North-South Railway was constructed by French colonialists as part of a wider railway network in Indochina. On 2 October 1936, the Hanoi-Saigon Railway, a length of 1,726 km, on 1-meter gauge tracks, was officially inaugurated by French colonists. It runs to this day.
