Socorro county is the largest of New Mexico counties,covering an area of 15,250 square miles, being as large as aEuropean kingdom. Its resources correspond to its area, invariety and extent. In the south-western part, especially in the Gila Forest Reserve, there arelarge areas in timber. The Rio Grande traverses the principal tributary here is the Puerco.
