Torralba is famous for the presence of the Nuraghic Palace of “Santu Antine”, one of the most important in the western Mediterranean. It is an imposing megalithic construction, about 17 metres high, which dominates the whole Valley of the Nuraghi. The monument is a proper fortress-castle, comprising a three-storeyed central tower, which is the oldest part of nuraghe, around which we find a triangular-shaped bastion with three towers. The remains of a Nuraghic village are found around the palace and were inhabited even in the Roman period. Nowadays, the archaeological complex is the site of the “Museum of the Valley of the Nuraghi of the Logudoro-Meilogu area”, preserving the various findings from the Palace and the Valley of the Nuraghi and housing exhibitions and an ethnographical section, which preserves local craftwork and cultural objects.
