Human mitochondrial single-stranded DNA binding protein (mtSSB), molecular model showing secondary structure. This protein binds to single-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in mitochondria. This binding to the DNA during replication prevents the single strands recombining (reannealing). This protein is a homotetrameric polymer formed from two dimers, with two chains. It contains 132 amino acids.
