Marco Polo's Ship
This illustration shows the ship of the Venetian traveler Marco Polo (1254-1324) as it appeared in the French professor Henri Cordier's 1903 edition of Henry Yule's translation of "The Book of Sir Marco Polo." On the deck of the ship at bottom right is the Persian princess Marco Polo accompanied to her wedding. Accompanying her was the excuse he used to get Kublai Khan to let him return home. The ship and those accompanying it set sail from China in 1292.
