Air Force Maj. Gen. D. Todd Kelly is drenched in water by the aircrew of a Air National Guard C-130 following Maj. Gen. Kelly’s final flight before retirement, at the North Carolina Air National Guard Base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport on April 12, 2017. Drenching the service member is a symbolic salute and a military tradition to honor retiring aviators on their final military flight. Maj. Gen. Kelly joined the North Carolina Air National Guard back in 1989 and has served as the Assistant to the Commander, Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., since 2014.
