16/03/2016. Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, UK. Karen Fitzsimons of the Saint Patrick's Visitors Centre poses with some Irish Shamrock, which is fast becoming sort in supply in the County Down town. Millions of people around the world will mark Saint Patrick's Day on 17 March, which is said to be the date of his death. It is celebrated inside and outside Ireland as a religious and cultural holiday. It is claimed that Patrick was brought here after his death and buried in the grounds of Down Cathedral.
