Gentlemen--On August 30th, 1897, there was a large fire in theNew York Biscuit Companys building, on Lombardy Street, nearBroad Street, Newark. The Fire Department were required to place the hose across ourtracks at 9109 P. M. Our cars were blocked eleven minutes, whenyour hose bridges arrived, which were immediately put into serviceand kept in service, enabling our traffic to move without inter-ference until midnight, when the hose was removed. During thattime, 143 cars had passed over the bridges. I consider your bridge a good one, and the ordering of sixmore of them is evidence of the fact. Yours truly,
