Container port security. Lorry driving through a radiation scanner at Southampton Container Terminal, UK. This machine is part of the Secure Freight Initiative pilot program. All containers destined for the USA are scanned for the presence of nuclear and other radioactive materials. They are also driven through an X-ray scanner to see if they contain any dense material that could be shielding radioactivity. The initiative is designed to prevent the import of nuclear weapons or dirty bombs to the USA.
