Paris, de Pont Neuf, vers l’Occident


The view taken in 1828, shows Paris, de Pont Neuf, vers l’Occident. On the right is the Palace of the Louvre. On the left is the Hotel de Monnaies and the Palais des Beaux Artes The bridge was commenced in 1578 from a design by Androuet de Cerceau and completed in 1604 by Charles Marchand. It has two unequal sections one with seven arches and the other with five which meet at the Ile de la Cité on an esplanade with a statue of Henry IV. There are excellent views from the bridge of the Louvre, the Tuileries, and other bridges across the River Seine. The image was drawn by J Nash directed by A Pugin and engraved by Fenner Sears and Co.
