Westinghouse High-Speed Reducing Valve pressures from 10 to 25 pounds. Where it is desired to retain higherpressures, they are built as high as 50 pounds. Conductors Valve. The conductors valve. Fig. 69, is a part ofall passenger car equipments and is now in common use. Fig. 70illustrates the type of valve now being furnished. It is connectedto a branch pipe leading from the brake pipe and is convenientlylocated inside of the car, so that in case of an emergency or necessityit can be reached. Frequently a cord is attached to the handle AIR BRAKES 91 which runs the entire length of the car and permits of the openingof the valve with the least possible delay. The valve most commonlyused is of the non-self-closing plug-cock t}pe. When the valve isopened, it permits air from thebrake pipe to escape freely tothe atmosphere, causing aquick-action application of allbrakes in the train. Aftermaking a stop in this manner, the valve must be closed be-fore th
