Spring awakening: Forest of hornbeams (Carpinus betulus) and soil covered with flowering anemones (Anemone nemorosa)

As one of the first messengers of spring the anemone grows and blooms. They often form a real carpet of flowers on the ground. The plants make use of it as long as the trees have no leaves. Then the sunlight penetrates unhindered to the forest floor, so that the anemones can grow quickly and vigorously.
