The Albert Memorial, Kensington Gardens, London, c1870, its lower half surrounded by scaffolding. The memorial to Prince Albert was erected in Kensington Gardens near to the Albert Hall. George Gilbert Scott won the design competition, and the Memorial was unveiled in July 1872.
