A small detachment of twenty-fivesoldiers, who are relieved every fortnight, is con-stantly in the fortress to guard the prisoners, whoare sent to Munkholm here as they are to the castleat Christiania: the number of them at our visit wastwx-nty in irons, and two others, who had been sen-tenced to confinement for life; but they were al-lowed to walk about the fortress unencumberedwith chains: one of these, I was informed, hadbeen convicted of coining, and the other of murder-. wumw ©w ^m©w^M] UiilON
