Cusco, Peru - 10 May 2018 Cusco is a historic Peruvian city located close to the Urubamba Valley of the Andes. The site was the historic capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th century until the 16th-century Spanish conquests. Inca culture and sentiment still dominates the city, as shown by this controverisal statue of the Inca King Pachacuti in its main square, the Plaza de Armes. Pachacuti was the ninth ruler of the Kingdom of Cusco and later the Emperor of the Inca Empire. Why controversial? It appears that there was no planning permission to erect it!
