Amsterdam Vondelpark Pavilion on Kingsday. Current name VondelCS. Popular Grand Cafe in the Vondelpark Vondel Park


The terraces of the Amsterdam Vondel Park Pavilion are extra crowded on Kingsday. The Vondelparkpaviljoen was known as the Film Museum from 1972 till 2012. The building, was completed in 1881. the architect was Willem Hamer. It's completely renovated in 2013-2014. The current name is VondelCS. Now It's the seat of broadcasting association AvroTros and the local Channel AT5, which both have studios here. There is restaurant and a grand cafe with a nice outside seating area. It's situated on the border of the Vondelpark just off the Vondelstraat; Roemer Visscherstraat and Van Baerlestraat. Not in this image: Opposite of the terrace is the statue of Joost van den Vondel, the poet and writer the Park is named after. Vondel can be thought of as as the Dutch Shakespeare.
