A gold inlaid shamshir, Persian, circa 1800. Curved single-edged blade of watered steel with floral gold inlay all the way to the point. Gold inlaid chiselled quillons and grip frame with walrus ivory grip scales wrapped with silver wire. The wooden scabbard is wrapped with shagreen leather with fine cord ornaments laid underneath (minor damage to back and point), with two suspension bands chiselled en suite and a wootz chape.
