There are thirty-foursuch districts, and four hundred native magis-trates, on salaries of one hundred to eighthundred rupees a month, besides one hundredand twenty-five native honorary success of this economical administration,organised by Sir Arthur Phayre, in ensuringthe safety of life and property and the fulfil-ment of contracts has given a new value toenterprise and thrift.
