ROBERTS, Robert, one of the most extensiveand prosperous farmers and stock-raisers inMcDonough County. 111., was born at Bonn-hill, Dumbartonshire, Scotland, May 18, is a son of William and Mary (Nimmo)Roberts, also natives of Scotland. Mr. Robertsis of a family of twelve children and came tothe United States with his parents, who set-tled in Scotland Township, McDonough County,when he was thirteen years old. He had at-tended school in Scotland, completing his edu-cation in the public school in the vicinity ofhis new home. At the age of fifteen years hestarted out to work on a farm by the month,and in the spring preceding his twentieth birth-. C. p.
