Paine Bros., of Randolph, have what they call a double stevia, which is whiter than the common S. serrata and sells more quickly. They brought in a few French Golden Spur narcissi this week, the first of the season from any source. R. & ..T. Farquhar & Co. have few bulbs loft this season. The entire ground floor at the South Market street store now is devoted to flowering and foliage ])]auts and receptacles of va- rious kinds, of all of which they have a splendid assortment. Red Radiance rose is one which has never taken well in Boston. Last week I noted in the store of the Gude Bros. Co., at Washington, a grand and richly colored sport of Radiance, of a much better color than the one usually seen. As seen growing at the two establish- ments of the Gude Bros. Co. it was grand and ran American Beauty a close second. Robert Alontgomery, of Natick, is noted as a rose and not a carnation specialist, but he has taken up carna- tion culture this season and I have never seen grander Matchless, while Pink Delight aod White Wonder are almost equally good. Among the roses Russell, Hadley, Ophelia, H o o s i e r Beauty, KilJarney, Killarney Brilliant and Double White Killarney are splendid. Harry Quint, of Boylston street, re- ports business as satisfactory. He con- tinues to sell many Dutch bulbs as well as plants and flowers. He has numer- ous orders for the great National Allied Bazaar, including the furnishing of thousands of tricolor boutonnieres. N. F. Comley is doing well with .\merican Beauties this season. He planted 2,000 as an experiment. Hoosier Beauty, extra fine Red Radiance, Mrs. W. R. Hearst, Killarney Brilliant and Double White
