An Austrian/Southern German grenadier's sabre, 1st half of the 18th century Curved, single-edged blade with the forte richly etched on both sides with the slightly modified, introductory verses from the Gospel of John, beneath a picture of Mary on the reverse side and one of a crucifix on the obverse side. Brass hilt with fine relief decoration. Languets decorated with an angel's head on the reverse side.
