There he be-came a large land holder, kept the first hotelin his section, and was the founder ofBrownbacks German Reformed died in 1757, at an advanced age. Oneof his descendants, in the third generation,was William Brownback, paternal grand-father of the subject of this sketch, who wasa prominent farmer of Chester county,where he died July 29, 1890, aged eighty-four years. He was a lifelong member ofthe Reformed church, in the upbuildingand success of which he took a lively inter-est, and was a well known and esteemedcitizen of his county.
