A fire broke out among some rags in theattic of John Eustices grocery Hamilton onMonday. Little damage was done. The Patrons of Industry are canvassingthe riding of East Elgin to get the farmersopinion of bringing out a candidate for theHouse of Commons in the coming fire on Wednesday in Thorold, Ont.,destroyed John Cloys grocery store. Hisloss on the building was $8,000 insured for$4,000 ; loss on stock $7,000, insured for$3,000. Two neighboring stores were de-stroyed. At a largely attended meeting of the Mon-treal Grocers Association, held in the Me-chanics institute one night last week it wasdecided to hold a grand drive, sometime be-tween the 1st and 15th of February.
