The abandoned houses and watchtowers of the village of Nakhr stand as a testimony to Oman's recent past. Such buildings would have been lived in until the 1970s. These old stone buildings have now been replaced by newer, concrete block and mortar constructions. A sign with trail information offers a route map for hikers.
