With over 5000 years of turbulent history behind it, Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) is one of the oldest cities in the world. Uniquely, it is sacred to three great monotheist, Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This remains a source of much conflict. Here we see a panoramic view of the Old City in late afternoon, viewed from Haas Avenue to the south. Temple Mount and the gleaming dome of the Al-Aqsa mosque dominate centre-frame. The entire area has high geopolitical and religious significance, and has been a primary flashpoint in the ongoing Israeli - Palestinian conflict. But here, all looks serene. However, as we know, looks can deceive.
