Coronation of King Alexander I of Poland by the Archbishop of Gniezno (Gnesen), Krakow, 1501. Three keepers of regalia hold the orb, sword and sceptre, symbols of kingship. Alexander the Jagiellonian (1461-1506) was elected Grand Duke of Lithuania in 1492, and was King of Poland from 1501-1506. From an illuminated manuscript in Czartoryski Library, Krakow.
