. Burpee's farm annual : the best seeds that grow including rare novelties. Nurseries (Horticulture) Pennsylvania Philadelphia Catalogs; Vegetables Seeds Catalogs; Fruit Catalogs; Plants, Ornamental Catalogs; Flowers Seeds Catalogs. ft* —IMPROVED— RUBY SWEET CORN. In 1888 an Eastern Seed House introduced the Ruby Sweet Cora, which, upon trial, proved to be a most excellent variety, but, unfortunately, less than half came true from seed. Afterward, Mr. C. N. Brackett, of Newton, Mass., the origi- nator, wrote us that the variety had been put out before it was thoroughly established, and offered to supply us with his own extra selected stock seed; this we purchased and have continued the selection for six years past, until now we have it so well established that it is worthy of introduction under the name of Improved Ruby. It is entirely distinct from other varieties, by reason of the stalks and husks, which are of a very handsome dark-red color, giving it an odd and beau tiful appearance in growth ; the stalks grow from six to seven feet high and bear from two to three good ears. The ears are of large size, completely filled with large, pure white grains, closely packed on the red cob. The corn is of the most delicious flavor, and so extremely sweet that it is most palatable, even to eat raw in the field ; it matures a little earlier than the StowelPs Evergreen. Its superb quality and large, handsome appearance cannot fail to make it a most desirable sort, both for the market and family garden. Per pkt. 10 cts.; pint 20 cts.; per quart 40 cts., CLARK'S NONE=SUCH SWEET CORN. g^fe.^SWE riety is the best out of over eighty sorts which he now grows. It is a strong, vigorous grower and heavy yielder; pink-colored cobs with white grain of good size, tinged with pink at the cob end; it shows not the least sign of glaze or flint, and is, therefore, sweet and tender; it has twelve to fourteen rows, and comes into use after the earlier varieties. Per pkt. 10 cts
