Mount Vodice (SLO) WWI, the fascist mausoleum built in 1941 as a burial place for the Italian Gen. Maurizio Ferrante Gonzaga. General Gonzaga conquered the Vodice during the tenth battle of the Isonzo. He was seriously wounded during the Caporetto retreat and deserved two golden medals. He died in Rome in 1938, but could not be buried in the mausoleum, because of the outbreak of the Second World War and the subsequent Cold War "atmosphere" Golden mosaic interior of the mausoleum.
