In the latter year he came to GreenBay, and after spending sometime at theBishops home was appointed assistantpastor of the Catholic Church at Marinette,same State,taking charge thereof October21,1886, and retiring from it September 8, 1887, the date of his coming to SturgeonBay, having been appointed pastor of Church in that city, an incum-bency he has since filled with true Chris-tian zeal and fidelity. The foundation stone of the newchurch was laid in 18S8, and the buildingwas completed and dedicated October i,1889, by Bishop Katzer. In 1890 wasbuilt a residence for the Sisters, and atthe same time the priests residence wasenlarged. Father Broens now claims acongregation of 200 families made up ofno less than nationalities, to whom hepreaches in three languages — English,German and French.
